What should I bring?
- Your current glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses
- A list of any medicines you take, including eye drops
- Proof of NHS eligibility if you have it, such as an HC2 certificate or benefit letter
- Your contact lens specification, if you wear lenses
- Any letters from your GP or the hospital eye service

Worried about eye drops or tests?
Many people are. Tell us when you book and we will explain each test before it happens. Nothing touches the eye without warning, and dilating drops are only used when they add useful information.
Common questions
Allow 30 to 40 minutes for an eye examination, and longer if your pupils are dilated or extra imaging is needed.
Ready when you are
