Contact lenses, fitted to your eyes

A contact lens fitting at Taiwo Opticians measures your eyes, matches a lens to your prescription and routine, and checks the fit on the eye.

How does a contact lens fitting work?

A contact lens fitting is separate from a standard eye test. The practitioner measures the curve of the cornea, checks the tear film and chooses a lens type that suits your prescription, eye health and how often you plan to wear lenses.

Most people can wear contact lenses, including people with astigmatism (toric lenses) and people who need help with near vision (multifocal lenses). A trial pair is worn first, and a follow-up visit checks comfort, vision and eye health before you order a supply.

How do I look after my eyes with contact lenses?

Wash and dry your hands before handling lenses, never sleep in lenses unless they are prescribed for it, and never rinse lenses or cases in tap water. Replace lenses on schedule. Remove them and call us if your eye becomes red, painful or sensitive to light.

Common questions

Usually yes. Toric soft contact lenses correct most levels of astigmatism, and the fitting measures the shape of your cornea to choose the right one.
